Ola Aesthetics was conceived as a clinic where ancient inspiration meets contemporary ritual. Founded by doctors Aleksandra Kaddour and Indi Wijegoonewardene, the brief sought a holistic experience that calmed the mind while elevating care. Nickolas Gurtler Office developed a design language that aligned with the new brand identity and redefined the aesthetic medical environment as a place of ceremony—measured, immersive and serene.
The project drew on Ancient Egyptian culture—the first to elevate beauty through deliberate transformation. Interpreted through a modern lens, this lineage appeared as stepped details that recalled pyramid architecture and formed a recurring motif throughout the interior. The building, a 1940s cottage adapted over decades, required only targeted adjustments to suit the program. Remaining heritage elements, including leadlight windows and distinctive fireplaces, were preserved and integrated to anchor the new work in place and memory.
Arrival established the tone. A monolithic reception desk sculpted in stepped profiles set the architectural rhythm and was paired with a bronze table lamp by Lost Profile Studio, whose lighting was specified throughout. The waiting space blurred clinic and temple—a calm lounge that encouraged presence rather than anxiety. A custom sofa by Nickolas Gurtler formed the centrepiece beneath a suspended bronze-and-white-glass pendant; a sisal rug grounded seating in honest materials of shearling and walnut. Product display read as an altar-like installation, its stepped form and smoked glass offering a restrained sense of drama.
Circulation moved along a softly lit corridor lined with bronze-and-white-glass wall lamps, leading to treatment rooms that echoed the common areas. Limewashed walls, oak-and-travertine joinery and concealed services created rooms that were technically precise yet warm to occupy. Consultation desks paired with Grazia & Co chairs upholstered in a thick Maharam jacquard supported conversation and care in equal measure.
Materiality carried the narrative. Linen, limewash, bronze, timber, sisal and shearling were combined with a contemporary restraint—grounded, tactile and quietly luxurious. Light favoured glow over glare, settling on texture and silhouette. The completed clinic balanced ceremony with function, reframing aesthetic medicine as a considered ritual and setting a clear, enduring identity for the brand.
