Tahnee Raine is a boutique cosmetic medicine practice in Ivanhoe, Victoria, conceived as a serene, elemental environment that rethinks the patient experience. Guided by the brand ethos of “considered naturality,” the design pursued warmth, purity and longevity while discreetly absorbing the practical demands of clinical care within a compact footprint that serves as both consultation space and treatment room.
The conceptual spark came from Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Mesopotamian ziggurats, brutalist geometry and 1970s undertones translated into a terrestrial, human-scaled interior. Rather than mimic the film’s spectacle, the project distilled its mood—timeless yet futuristic—into proportion, silhouette and material weight.
Materiality carries the narrative. Earthen elements—Roman travertine, limewash, oak and weathered bronze—are softened by highly textured fabrics such as wool bouclé and linen. The palette is neutral but rich, chosen for honesty and endurance as much as for beauty. Edges that carry structure are tightened; surfaces that meet the hand are softened. Light favours glow over glare, settling on grain, weave and stone.
Arrival establishes the tone: limewashed beige walls form a calming veil while precise detailing invites attention. A sand-coloured ceiling holds an installation of stepped luminaires by Lee Broom, a restrained echo of the fantastical architectures crafted by production designer Patrice Vermette for Dune.
Perforated, floating cabinets express their inner organisation without visual heaviness. Sculptural bronze lighting by Henry Wilson introduces a quiet, handcrafted presence.
Clinical functionality is embedded without overt display. A dropped counter in Roman travertine conceals syringes, scalpels and equipment from patient view, maintaining composure in the room. Circulation and zoning are clear and efficient, supporting adjacent beauty businesses while preserving the calm, self-contained atmosphere that defines the brand.
The result is a compact clinic that feels eternal rather than trend-led—serene, precise and materially grounded. By dissolving the perceived divide between clinical practicality and timeless design, Tahnee Raine elevates both the emotional and physical dimensions of care, demonstrating how a human-centred interior can transform procedure into ritual and anxiety into composure.
